THE ALPINE POPPIES. Come May, everyone is wondering where this perfectly perfect location is. And, you guys, it is so perfectly perfect. If you want family photos at the Alpine Poppy Field, here are some things you need to know. But first, can we just oogle over this sweet family?! I can’t even with them. One year ago, Sara had her maternity pictures taken at this exact spot, now they have a 10 month old baby that I squished all night! (They are also some of my very favorite repeat customers! We took more summer family photos at Chateau Monette Flower Farm – click right here!)
First off, I have to tell you about how I met Sara: I follow her on Instagram. She has the cutest Instagram I’ve ever seen. (CLICK RIGHT HERE) So we’ve chatted about getting together, but then the world was shut down for Covid-19, so when we could finally get together, we did, and let me tell ya. We could be best friends. She was so much fun to be around, her husband was such a good sport and had the biggest smile, and her baby was so perfect. Oh, and we both like to drive around and fantasize about giant houses.
There are actually two locations to find perfect poppies in Utah. One is in Alpine, and the other is in Mantua (see those here!) You can just GPS “Alpine Poppies” and Google will take you here. I always have my families park at the LDS Church Building and walk up to the poppies. Its about a 10 minute (15 minute with little kids) walk up a dirt road.
Yes, yes they are. The poppies are only in bloom for about 2 weeks, if we’re lucky, so everyone flocks there when they can! However, I only go on weekday nights. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There will definitely still be a lot of people, but it won’t feel super squished. As long as your photographer can Photoshop other people out, you’ll be good to go! (*cough cough* I can totally Photoshop other people out!)
The light is amazing, the location is amazing, the flowers are amazing. If you want family photos at the Alpine Poppy Field (or at the Mantua Poppies) – do it!
